What is an archetype?
1. A prototype.
2. Platonic philosophical idea, pure forms which embody the fundamental characteristics of a thing.
3. Jungian term, collectively inherited unconscious idea or image, usually present in individual psyches.
4. Constantly recurring symbol or motif, such as in art or mythology.
